How SargoTax AI builds a preliminary tax estimate.
1. Deterministic calculation rules
Federal and state estimate engines apply versioned rules to the facts entered. AI is not allowed to invent tax rates, filing thresholds, deductions, credits, or a missing calculation.
2. Official primary sources
Rule development begins with published IRS forms, instructions, revenue procedures, publications, and applicable state tax-authority materials. Public guides link to the primary sources that support their general explanations.
3. Supported paths and gates
A calculation is produced only when required facts are present and the selected situation fits a supported path. Unsupported forms, allocations, elections, credits, or jurisdiction details remain marked for review instead of being treated as zero.
4. Payments and result labels
Entered withholding, refundable credits, and estimated payments are compared with supported tax. A positive difference is labeled as a preliminary refund; a negative difference is labeled as a preliminary amount due. State results are calculated separately.
5. Testing and change control
Calculation modules include automated boundary and scenario tests. Material rule updates change the rule version and review date. Complex tax outcomes still require comparison with final official forms and, when appropriate, review by a qualified tax professional.
6. Corrections
Potential errors can be reported to gpluidze@gmail.com. Do not send taxpayer documents or sensitive personal information. Reports are reviewed against the applicable source and test cases before a change is published.
